Having a Ball with Timberdoodle

Did you know that I can read minds? It’s true. Let me try yours. You want to know how a review post about a ball could possibly persuade you to order this specific ball when you can find a ball any ole place. Right?

No? Now let me let you in on a secret — I can’t actually read minds, but that’s what I first thought when I was offered this cute, yellow ball in exchange for a review from Timberdoodle Co.

What is so special about the Gymnic Over Ball? Since you can’t read my mind (let us hope for both our sakes), I will tell you.

This ball is one of my favorite items received from Timberdoodle to date. Truly.

Considering I’ve been reviewing for them for years and have received a ton of stuff from them that’s saying a lot, promise.

The Gymnic Over Ball is…

  • latex free
  • phthalate free
  • BPA free
  • lead free
  • reach compliant
  • super cute
  • perfectly sized for little arms
  • lightweight for tossing and catching
  • squishy (easy to pick up)
  • soft and gentle

We really love natural materials around here, but I’m not staunchly opposed to plastics by any means. What I do hate is the idea of exposing my family to harmful chemicals — especially the most vulnerable — my babies. The first thing I note whenever opening up something plastic is if there’s a noxious smell. If there is, I’m generally not a fan, and it doesn’t last long in our home.

The Gymnic ball from Timberdoodle has no odor. We quickly inflated it (comes with a special straw to make it easy to blow up), and my kids have been playing with it daily ever since. And when I say kids, I mean kids. Not only is this ideal for my toddler at 22 months but my big kids use it constantly.

In fact this ball is so sought after, it has been fought over and taken away for another day due to its mysteriously, seductive powers.

So any old ball? Hardly.

In complete honesty, I love the Over Ball because it’s fantastic for teaching a toddler to catch and throw. It’s the perfect size and suppleness for catching; it has a slight give but stays well-inflated despite tons of rough outdoor use. It doesn’t hurt whatsoever when we toss it at Will, and he’s too slow to react and it pegs him in the face (we’re not the only parents who do this to their toddler right?).

I absolutely love that everytime Will tackles the ball he’s not bringing any harmful substances close to his face.

It’s just a really great toy. Perfect for gross motor skills. Highly recommended by our family, and you can find it at Timberdoodle Co. I know Timberdoodle puts so much care and consideration into their homeschool curriculum materials — and this is a great one especially for littles.

  1. Very cool! I have 4 boys (well, 3 that are still young) and they all love balls! You can never go wrong giving a boy a ball! 🙂
