Sometimes if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. It follows, after not finding anything but states of matter cards that exclude plasma, I made my own sorting activity for all four states of matter: plasma included!

Poor plasma always getting left out. Plasma is awesome. Plasma is all around us, and now it’s represented in this fun sorting activity. Yay.

Included for each state of matter (solid, liquid, gas, plasma) are 8 labeled sorting cards for a grand total of 32 labeled pictures to sort. I tried to make them ever so tricky with a few unexpected items to sort. There’s also a handy key to print out with it, so it’s totally self-checking work. I love how it turned out.

Great intro to chemistry work for second plane kids!

And if kids want more info on what these plasma items are all about (plus bonus reading practice) there is both a matching reader and more advanced 4 part cards about plasma too.

Things my kids needed and maybe yours do too.
